Service Description
Behavioral therapy in children involves looking at children's behavior in a systematic way and making a plan of action to change or improve certain behaviors. The goal of behavior therapy in children is to positively influence the child's behavior so that the child can function better in his environment. Behavioral therapy involves looking at the behavior the child exhibits and the situations in which the behavior occurs. It looks at factors that influence the behavior, such as the child's environment, upbringing and temperament. A plan of action is then developed with goals and strategies to change the child's behavior. An important part of behavioral therapy in children is positive reinforcement. This means rewarding desired behavior, such as with compliments or stickers. In addition, punishments and time-outs for undesirable behavior may be used. Behavioral therapy in children can help with various problems, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, aggression and sleep problems. It is important that parents are also involved in therapy so that they can support and reinforce the child's new behavior.
